SOLD - 1987 Wade Boggs #252

$14.50

PSA 9: #71873565 - Mint

Wade Boggs was an excellent lead-off hitter throughout his career. He possessed the qualities and skills that made him well-suited for the lead-off spot in the batting order. Boggs had exceptional plate discipline, which is crucial for a lead-off hitter. He had a keen eye for pitches, was patient at the plate, and had an excellent ability to draw walks. He led the league in walks several times in his career, showcasing his ability to work counts and get on base. He consistently had high on-base percentages throughout his career, which is a vital attribute for a lead-off hitter. Boggs was known for his ability to make consistent contact with the ball. He was an exceptional hitter for average and had a knack for putting the ball in play. His ability to consistently get hits and avoid strikeouts was valuable in setting the table for the rest of the lineup. While not known for his speed, he was a smart and efficient base runner with good instincts on the bases, and he was effective at taking extra bases when the opportunity presented itself. Perhaps his most important skill at being a lead-off hitter was his ability to wear down pitchers and forcing them to throw more pitches. This help the hitters following him get a better read on pitchers and improved their ability to drive him home and score runs.
