In 1983, Wade Boggs established himself as one of the premier hitters in the league. He led the American League in batting average with an impressive .361, becoming the first Red Sox player to win the batting title since 1967. This marked the beginning of Boggs' streak of several consecutive seasons with a batting average over .300. Boggs continued his success throughout the 1980s and into the early 1990s. He consistently ranked among the league leaders in batting average and on-base percentage, winning multiple batting titles. His exceptional ability to make contact and get on base made him a highly regarded and valuable player.
