SOLD - 1989 Bo Jackson #269

$0.00

PSA 8: #72468550 - Near Mint to Mint

Bo Jackson's football career came to an end due to a devastating hip injury he suffered during a playoff game on January 13, 1991. During a game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Jackson made a carry towards the sideline. As he was attempting to cut back and change direction, he was tackled by Bengals linebacker Kevin Walker. The tackle caused a dislocation of Jackson's hip, resulting in significant damage to the joint. The injury was severe; he was diagnosed with avascular necrosis, a condition in which the blood supply to the bone is disrupted, leading to bone tissue death. Due to the extent of the injury, it was determined that Jackson would need a hip replacement surgery, which effectively ended his football career. Despite the brevity of his football career, Jackson's exceptional talent and athleticism left a lasting impact on the sport and made him one of the most memorable athletes of his era.
