Randall Cunningham was a trailblazer and a new type of quarterback during his time in the NFL. He brought a unique skill set and playing style that revolutionized the quarterback position in several ways. Cunningham was one of the first quarterbacks who truly excelled as a dual-threat player. He possessed exceptional athleticism, speed, and agility, which allowed him to be a significant threat both as a passer and a runner. His ability to extend plays with his legs and make big plays on the ground added a new dimension to the quarterback position. His speed and elusiveness set him apart from other quarterbacks of his time. He had the ability to evade defenders in the pocket, scramble for positive yardage, and break off long runs. Cunningham also had a powerful throwing arm and could launch deep passes with great accuracy. He was known for his ability to connect on long, downfield throws and stretch the defense vertically. With a knack for making spectacular plays and improvising on the field, he was capable of turning broken plays into positive gains through his agility, athleticism, and creativity. His ability to extend plays and make something out of nothing made him an exciting and unpredictable quarterback. Cunningham's playing style challenged traditional quarterback norms and paved the way for future generations of mobile and athletic quarterbacks.
