1987 Herschel Walker #264 ROOKIE CARD

$45.00

SGC 8.5: #0391648 - Near Mint to Mint+

After a successful college career at the University of Georgia, where he won the Heisman Trophy in 1982, Walker opted to turn professional and signed with the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League (USFL) in 1983. However, the USFL faced financial struggles and eventually suspended operations after the 1985 season. With the USFL on hiatus, Walker needed a place to continue his football career. The Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL expressed interest in signing him, and Walker saw it as an opportunity to keep playing football and stay in shape while waiting for the USFL to resume operations. Additionally, the CFL offered Walker a lucrative contract, providing him with financial security. During his two seasons with the Eskimos, Walker showcased his exceptional talent and versatility. He was a key player in helping the team win back-to-back Grey Cup championships in 1985 and 1986. Ultimately, his time in Canada helped solidify his reputation as a talented and dynamic football player before returning to the United States to resume his professional career in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys in 1986.
