O.J. Simpson played two final seasons with the San Francisco 49ers before officially retired from professional football after the 1979 season. After his football career, Simpson's life took a significant turn with a series of highly publicized events. He first pursued a career in acting and broadcasting, appearing in several movies and TV shows, including the "Naked Gun" film series. Simpson also worked as a sports commentator and analyst for various networks. In 1994, Simpson was accused of the murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman. The highly publicized trial, known as the "O.J. Simpson murder case," captivated the nation. In 1995, Simpson was acquitted of the criminal charges in a highly controversial verdict. Despite the acquittal in the criminal trial, Simpson faced a civil lawsuit filed by the victims' families. In 1997, he was found liable for the wrongful deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman in the civil trial and was ordered to pay significant financial damages. In 2007, Simpson was involved in a robbery at a Las Vegas hotel room, where he attempted to reclaim sports memorabilia he claimed belonged to him. He was convicted of multiple charges, including armed robbery and kidnapping, and sentenced to prison. Simpson served nine years in prison before being granted parole in 2017. After his release from prison, Simpson has largely stayed out of the public eye. He maintains a relatively low profile and has occasionally made headlines for various controversies or statements.
