Dick Butkus was one of the most feared and dominant linebackers in the history of the NFL. His early career was marked by incredible talent and tenacity on the field, and he quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with. He played college football at the U. of Illinois, where he was All-American honors twice and won the Silver Football Award as the Big Ten's best player in ’63. He was also a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, finishing third. He was drafted by the Bears with the 3rd with the third overall pick in the 1965 NFL Draft and quickly established himself as one of the best linebackers in the league. He was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1979 and is still considered one of the most dominant and intimidating defensive players of all time.
